Whether you are planning a romantic dinner for two, or hosting a group of friends, its always nice to create a welcoming atmosphere. There are some simple ways to add to your table setting to give your space a festive look and feel. Here are 5 of my favorites.

1. Candles

Candles always give a space ambiance. With the holiday season having less daylight hours, its nice to take advantage of candlelight. Using candles on a table is one of the simplest ways of creating a festive and calming feel. Grouping candles with different heights and sizes can give the table a lot of visual interest while also creating a soft look.

You can use with natural unscented candles, or Flameless sets of candles (LED). Both sets offer a variety of sizes.

2. A Natural Wood Slice.

Adding something simple like a wood slice under a vase or flower arrangement can give your table more visual appeal. This can help to keep balance with other aspects of your arrangement like candle sticks.

You can get them in a variety of sizes. They can be used in many design styles and are perfect when trying to incorporate natural elements in your décor.

You can find wood slices in a variety of stores. This one as an example, is a nice size (9"-12" & 5/8" wide).

3. Wine Glasses

Simply dress your table with festive wine glasses. They can be glasses you use all year round that maybe stand out or have a unique style, or special ones just for the holidays.

This Mikasa set is perfect as it comes with 4 different etched designs that will not only fit any design style, give your table setting a unique look, but also identify whose glass is whose.

4. Fresh Greenery

Its so simple yet adds so much style to a table. Using natural greenery will give the whole room a wonderful smell which adds to the festive feel. Check with your local green house for what they have in season to create your own or look at your near by Christmas tree vendors. They often sell it!

If you are wanting something you can use year after year and don't mind it being artificial, this Eucalyptus Garland would make a simple addition.

5. Cloth Napkins

This sounds too simple, but it really does take the table setting from a regular family dinner to a festive event. Big or small, everyone can appreciate the pampering feel from having a cloth napkin.

They can be found in a variety of color, styles, and fabrics. I recommend going with a color like Ivory during the holidays adds a lot of elegance. These ones are stain and wrinkle resistant and come in a variety of color options.

There are so many napkin folding ideas on pinterest if you are looking for ideas!

The next time you are planning a gathering, big or small, know that you can easily add in any of these elements to create a beautiful space in no time. Use them each individually or combine all five for a warm festive feel on any occasion.
